POEM STARTER

Write a poem from the point of view of an unwilling debutante being presented at court.

How would this young character feel about being introduced to their society?

Roses

I started life out as a seed Been mistaken for a weed Waited in the lilacs shade There I wish I could’ve stayed I bloomed too bright and caught their sight My doom I could not foresee Why can’t we just let beauty be Thorns can’t pierce a garden glove Say goodbye to the place I love Even roses will have cages Cut and placed in porcelain vases
