I held her hand tight, and I wasn't ever letting go.
End or begin a story with this line.
One Second
It only took one second.
I looked around frantically. I pushed the cart aside, started screaming her name, and pushed clothes to the side of the racks looking in every nook.
“Sarah! Sarah!”
A women who looked my age knew the look on my face.
“Did you tell the manager?” She asked.
“No, I just saw her a second ago.” I started to pant.
Now we’re both screaming her name and what feels like hours only minutes went by.
“Boo!” I hear her voice sting inside me.
“Sarah! Don’t ever leave mommy’s side. Do you understand?” My body covers hers and she giggles with a panicked look on her face.
The other mom looks relieved and walks away, as the manages comes up to us.
“Everything okay here?” He asks.
“Yes, thank you.” I give the manager a nervous smile as my heart adjusts in its place.
My mind can’t focus on anything else and I decide we should leave and go home.
I held her hand tight, and I was never letting go.
