POEM STARTER

Take the first line from a book and use it to begin a poem.

Try to choose a book at random and challenge yourself to write the poem around it, instead of planning to choose a book based on your poem idea.

Regret

AN: This line is the first line from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane. They nod and it is plain That they know each other. Turns out one is a loving, and loved, father. That’s something I don’t learn until it’s much too late. They approach my front yard gate. Rashness, Excuses, Gasping, Running, Escaping, Trouble. That is what this story is about. The night when I should have listened to the doubt That was lurking in the back of my mind. Trouble befell me, because I was too blind. There is a reason I’m telling you this, my sweet Ike. Tonight I’m hoping you will never have to know what it’s like To feel the feeling I will never forget. That feeling is Regret.
