Holding On

All I could see was fire. All I could hear was screams. All I could think was this is the end.

I ran for my life. But there was nowhere to run.Trees burst into vicious flames as the ground shook as though it was a ticking bomb.Another explosion, and I was thrown back. The flames seemed endless and the wind howled, making them stronger.I was flat on my back and couldn’t move. This was the end.

I thought back to all the times I was gleeful, all the times I was happy.

All the times I had hope.

I laid there, waiting for it to be over.

Then I saw his hand, covered in blood and scratches, but still strong, extending out to me.

Using the last of my strength,I reached for it.

Our hands grasped each other, and they attached, never letting go,as if we were one.

Another explosion hit and the flames turned into one ferocious beast, surrounding us.

I could feel my skin being burned,my flesh being torn aport as wood chips and metal pieces flying through the air seemed to rip my body shreds. The ground exploded.

And we never separated.
