Curses were well known to be cruel punishments throughout the land. The Evil Queen would use her magic mirror to send curses upon anyone she chose. The people lived in fear of crossing her and dealing with her curses.

The people knew nothing different though. The Queen had maintained a youthful glow about her for generations. She was also beautiful and lavish. She would tax the people and spend the money on surrounding herself with luxury and beauty.

The Queen happily reigned over her miserable and curse kingdom. One day, she asked her mirror, who was the fairest of them all? The mirror responded, “you, my lady, but another was born in this day who will one day become more fair than you.”

The Queen was livid and ordered her guards to search the entire kingdom and kill any baby born on that day. Sure enough, there were many babies in entire kingdom killed that day, but one of the Queen’s guards went to the house of a Lord and Lady. The guard saw a small little baby in the Lady’s arms, and could not bring himself to slaughter the child.

The guard spared the baby, telling the Lady to keep her safe and away from the Queen. The guard left and the Lady arranged for the attic of their fine manor to be made fit for a bedroom. She and her husband raised their daughter in secret, never letting her leave the attic. The loyal servants of the house and her parents were the only people the young girl ever knew.

One day, 18 years past the day of her birth, the Queen received a new answer to the question she asked every day. Her mirror told her that Snow White, born 18 years ago on that day, was the fairest of them all. The Queen demanded that the mirror curse her to become a demon. The mirror told the Queen that it was beyond its powers. The Queen then told the mirror to make Snow White think she was a demon.

Snow White awoke later that morning. She walked towards her mirror. But when she arrived at her mirror, all she say was a terrifying demon. She screamed and looked at her hands, seeing claws with blood on them. She looked around her room to see that it was shredded and blood was everywhere. Her parent’s bodies lay on the ground before her. She was terrified at what she had become and what she had done.

When the people of the house heard Snow White scream, they came rushing up to her room, fearfully that the Queen had found her. When they arrived, they saw the beautiful screaming and muttering all sorts of nonsense about them all being dead. They stood in horror as they watched her helplessly descend into madness. They vowed to kill the Queen and shatter her mirror so that Snow White could once again have the sanity that the mirror took from her.
