In Someone Else’s Brain
Not quite a story as much as a poem but it came to me and I had to write it
In Someone Else’s Brain
I can see my face
Masking as much as can be
Being the me “you” want
A mirror of “you”
In someone else’s brain
Stopping the fidgeting
The stimming, the movement
Instead trying to be still
Trying to make eye contact
In someone else’s brain
Talking a little, struggling to listen
Although “you” can see
All the thoughts moving around
Special interests abound
In someone else’s brain
Trying so hard
To fit society’s mold
Struggling a lot
Doing as told
In someone else’s brain
But now as I see
Glimmers of the “real” me
So much more beautiful
Than the mask I put on
In someone else’s brain
