Growing up,

I learned trees fight for the sunlight

Wanting more and more to be the tallest

Viewing each others as parasites and pests.

Recently I figured the truth was washed up

Stripped from its meaning by our need to fight.

Projecting our flaws onto a tree.

Us humans could learn from the forest

A society living in harmony

Taking turns making their growth spree.

It’s the law of nature

For ultimate peace assured.
