I Found Them

I work at a cafe. Not to many people come around and when they do they only order a coffee. I make sure to pay attention to every customer. Since it’s a small shop there’s a chance no one will pay. A young girl walked in her hair spinning in the wind. “I’ll take a coffee and a muffin.” She said with a pleasant smile. I walked into the back and prepared her order. I hadn’t seen her walk in with a purse or a bag but some people pay with cash from there pockets. After preparing her order I walked out and handed her the order. She finished had quite quickly. I opened the cash register ready to put her cash in. I looked up and boom, she was gone. I watched her speed walk outside and I had another co-worker, Jane cover for me. I chased her outside but it wasn’t like I was following her persay but—I was most definitely following her. I watched her walk into an alley and curl up in a blanket. She was—homeless. I felt bad poor girl, so I walked over to her. A wad of cash clutched in my hand. I approached her and laid the cash down, “I’m sorry but you didn’t pay.” I whispered, “but it’s alright here’s some cash.” I walked back to the cafe, slowly but surely. I had felt way better.
