âI know you might hate me right now butââ I paused, âNevermind.â
âYou have to tell me Ann!â Dara screamed, âplease Ann! What secrets is she conveying?â Daraâs face became more desperate. I sighed.
âListenâI canât tell you everything but.â I looked around then cupped my hand over her ear, âSheâs not what she says she is.â I slowly walked away. I could hear the pain in Daraâs voice as if she got stamped by a million cheetahs. The info might not have been entirely true but I didnât care. Dara was rude and self absorbed. Itâs what she deserves.
I work at a cafe. Not to many people come around and when they do they only order a coffee. I make sure to pay attention to every customer. Since itâs a small shop thereâs a chance no one will pay. A young girl walked in her hair spinning in the wind. âIâll take a coffee and a muffin.â She said with a pleasant smile. I walked into the back and prepared her order. I hadnât seen her walk in with a purse or a bag but some people pay with cash from there pockets. After preparing her order I walked out and handed her the order. She finished had quite quickly. I opened the cash register ready to put her cash in. I looked up and boom, she was gone. I watched her speed walk outside and I had another co-worker, Jane cover for me. I chased her outside but it wasnât like I was following her persay butâI was most definitely following her. I watched her walk into an alley and curl up in a blanket. She wasâhomeless. I felt bad poor girl, so I walked over to her. A wad of cash clutched in my hand. I approached her and laid the cash down, âIâm sorry but you didnât pay.â I whispered, âbut itâs alright hereâs some cash.â I walked back to the cafe, slowly but surely. I had felt way better.
Screaming within I was captured. I was put in a chamber. Being forced to choose to save my best friend, myself, or my sister. If I chose to save my sister me and my best friend would die. I tried to scream but nothing came out but a slight puff of air. I grasped ahold of the chain hanging tightly around my neck and loosely around my ankles. Fear struck me as I noticed me and my sister along with my best friend were all in the same situation. I reached out to possibly hug them but as soon as I took a step forward the chain launched me up sending a shock through my body as I slowly made my retreat down.
A face appeared tv in front us. âListen, you fools. I need you, Abigail to choose who lives and who doesnât.â A man popped into the scream and the words almost floated into my brain and then right out. A timer clicked and clicked on the wall. I gulped and looked towards my choices. Suddenly I felt no pressure. Theyâhad to live. Itâs be humanly impossible for them both to live and me still stand on the earth. I sighed and trashed into my thoughts. âIâve made my decision. But, I have a deal.â The man was intrigued and immediately asked, âReally? Well haha thatâs funny.â I wasnât going to take no for an answer. âListen sir. My deal is that if I can out run you and your team, then we all three get to leave but if we donât, I die and they live. ďżźâ he snicked, âoh your serious. Your time is up. Better run.â He laughed and his gang appeared out of every wall. But I knew I wasnât going to outrun themâbut they would. As the goons attacked me I signaled for them to leave. At least my sister and my best friend would be safe. I then hurled the men off me and began to run. But more kept coming, eventually the only thing I could do was let fate run its course. Down I went, long gone.
Dropped into the hands of fate a girl was born. Aubrey Price, a fairytale princess. Born into the wrong generation then just fell. Down into the abis and into what we call the 21st century.
Used to everything being given to her Aubrey wouldnât work a day in her life. Sitting on her throne that her father had made specially for her. But sadly she would only make it to 16 before going to bed one night and suddenly waking up in 2023.
Running into her first problem, these werenât her parents. These people were secretive and weird. Handing her a funky do-dad they call the âiPhone.â âHunny, are you going to hangout with Audrey today?â Her mother had asked. Confused Aubrey replied, âNo thanks, now pardon me while I go tidy up.â Aubrey hated using words like âno thanksâ âbathroomâ âuglyâ because those words werenât what she fancied. Her mother snicked, âWow.â She heard her mumble. Looking in the mirror Aubrey saw a thick glob of eyeliner with some green eyeshadow. Aubrey struggled for a moment but still couldnât get it off. She also noticed that her shirt was cut at an unusual length.
She walked outside to see the horrific air pollution. She gasped and held her breath as she walked down the sidewalk in her newly acquired âskinâ she found that adapting to this lifestyle was difficult. However, she always missed her parents even if they were always so, giving? She walked down closing her eyes for a moment, and suddenly she had woken up in her castle.
I get a letter in the mail it reads, âYou may never believe me but I swear Iâm not liar. I need your help. Iâm you. From a parallel universe. Please..â thatâs where the letter cuts off. It must just be some lousy, bored teenage I think to myself. They wouldâve said more if it was real. I donât even know where to go. I frustratingly crumple the paper and throw it in the trash. âSis. I got a weird letter, itâs to you.â Her voice was like any 14 year old, dark and not cheerful. I snatch it, ripping open the neat paper revealing fine print handrighting. This letter read, âPlease..the address is 2206 perry drive.â The letter cut off again. 2206? Perry drive? âBut my address is 2206 Perry drive.â I mumbled. If it is a teenager itâs also a stalker. My sister came in again, âI guess you are popular.â She said handing me 2 new letters. This time she stayed to watch me read them. Out loud I read, âIâm all seriousness please! I need your help!â Horror washed over my face. âWhoâs that?â My sister,Natalie asked inching forward. Instead of answering I read the next letter, âNatalie. I need your help to. You know an Abigail correct? Abigail price?â Natalieâs face turned completely pale and traumatized. She could only nod as if the words were stuck. Another letter arrived I gave it to Natalie. âNatalie, she well..I guess you could say she needs your help too.â Natalie read then furry rose in her. âWhoever wrote this is-is a liar!â Natalie crumpled up the paper and stuffed it in a trash can.
Her and Abigail never talked they only knew of each other. It was an obvious trick. To lure them. I stood up giving myself a brief view of the remaining letters and at the very top and image was drawn out. A pictureâof my house. With the caption âMy next letter victim.â
Shadows at nights Whispers in morning sun I see you there loved one Hiding within the walls of this cavern I hope you know how to run I see you there You dark loved one Iâm sure I see you but Iâm not You are imaginary I swear I see you but they donât. Iâm just different so listen and walk.
On the ceiling I can see Your face so pretty your top hat shined brightly Your wings spread with open arms. The babadook comes and always alarms. You may think youâve escaped but youâd be wrong. The babadook fools but always comes back
âI wish I could say I was lying.â Allie said clutching the edge of the chair, âI expected this from you Molly.â Allie stared deeply. âH-how did you know.â Molly took off the mask revealing a confused girl. âWell weâve been friends for years. Until you ditched me.â Allies voice stiffened. âI did not.â Mollys voice raised as she ran closer, âYou have the wrong input!â Molly raised her voice. âI was there! I had my own input!â Allie rustled in her chair. âWell the clocks ticking.â Molly pointed to a clock hanging on the wall. Allie froze.
âMolly please. I swear I didnât do anything wrong.â Allie said quivering. Molly smiled, âListen, it wasnât me who betrayed you.â Molly let out a sigh. âIt was Emma, I guess you can say she wellâŚlied to me.â Mollys face saddened as the clock ticked on. âWait. Molly, Iâm sorry I judged but. Whoâs Emma?â Molly was a great girl but she was not the ideal person to solve a mystery. âGirl. Blonde. Ring any bells?â Allie remembered Emma, âMolly Iâm sorry and if you can forgive me we can take down Emma.â Allies face focused on the clock. âOkay.â Molly smiled as she and Allie walked towards Emma Mayhewâs house. To take her down.
