Don’t Forget
Don’t forget.
The shadows that slip away when the sun shines too brightly
Or those invisible hands reaching out
The ones who hide deep in shelters at night
Or sneak through valleys of the outskirts
The anonymous ones that float on towards oblivion
For each child holding a book
Is wrapped up in their own mind
Unaware of the world they live in
Each parent’s view is set only on their stars
Orbiting around their tightly kept heart
As they hurry by this calling out
Each person looks away
Or is too blind to see in the first place
While the pain of the forgotten continues on
Going Unnoticed, Unnamed, Anonymous
For the lonely stay locked inside
The guards of their own key
The poor go their way
For their cries fall on unbreakable walls
The immigrants struggles on
Their untold story quenched of its flame
The refugees search for homes
The lost wander far
The depressed fall to tears
The anxious are left alone
And everyone person is caught wondering
When will they become a little less anonymous.
