A Season's End
Goodbye to the days of warmth and light
Where birds sing their songs in the morning
And fireflies dance under soft glow of moonlight.
Farewell to the grass, freshly cut and green
To the endless blue sky
And the daylight that now, can barely be seen.
Gone is the time that, at one point, seemed to stretch out forever
Yet as a butterfly fleeting swoops out of grasp
That anticipation turned to reflection on the past
As if it disappeared with the blink of an eye
Summer is gone, and winter has arrived
