Speech Fail

Lorelei looked anxious, why she ran for president she hadn’t a clue— perhaps she shouldn’t have listened to Seraphina.

She stood in front of a large audience, sweat dripping down her bluish skin as her eye skimmed through the watchers. Clearing her throat, an odd sound escaped it, causing her to flush red.

“My… my apologies, everyone,” It started off as a mumble before she forced it to amplify, “thank you all for attending!” She tried to force excitement, but everyone looked at her, wanting her to go on. This world isn’t as patient, it seems.

“Uhm, I wish to thank everyone who votes for me to be president, and I want to say how I will not disappoint anyone no matter who they are!” Lorelei boasted an awkward smile gracing her features, “This is a unique privilege that many haven’t had the chance to even grace upon, and I am extremely grateful that you all gave me such permission to be here!” The mic started screeching a bit at the end, eliciting a unanimous groan.

“My apologies, everyone!” Lorelei just wanted to leave now. Everyone seemed about ready to throw her off the stage now. These people really aren’t patient, huh?
