Stay-

He cupped her face in both of his hands, his face so close to hers that she could smell his sickly cologne. She inhaled deeply and closed her eyes, only to open them to see his icy blue ones staring back at her. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and he wiped them away with his thumb.

“Can’t you stay? Just a bit longer?” She whispered, her voice wavering. More tears. He tilted her face down, so her eyes couldn’t stray from his. So that she would have to face his emotions as well as hers.

“If i could…I would.” His voice is raspy, barely audible. He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against hers.

“Don’t leave me..” She cried out, but it was too late. Red staining his white button-down shirt, her hands were bloody, pressed against his side in a futile attempt to stop it. She leaned over him, watching his chest still on her lap. She watched, powerless to stop him from leaving.
