Death Will Fallow
He lays there, slump in his hospital bed, pale and defeated. My fathers time on this earth has indeed expired. As he agreed to take his last breath, his eyes faded into two gray glossy balls, beautiful and hopelessly lifeless. It was almost as if I could see his soul dance away in a grateful farewell. Leaving me in this world, alone, forever, until my time has too come.
It's the day of the funeral. We stand around in temporary union. I scan the area, knowing no one, observing the figures uniformed in black. The sky darkens, clouds roll in and mask the sun, restricting its comforting raze from our skin and replacing it with cold goosebumps. It begins to sprinkle, escalating as every second passes. The gloom conquered the air and infused it with intoxicating despair. I feel restless inside, as if a unavoidable danger is soon to come. I stand still listening to the solem service honoring my fathers death. All of a sudden I feel a gush of cold wind. Queer and delusional. I feel a cold, stiff hand curl on my shoulder. I try to turn my head to see who it was, but I couldn't, It was like my body had froze with fear. The hand quickly ceases upon me. I'm still frozen. I can move my eyes, I frantically scan the area over and over again. A hunched figure captures my attention. Standing there horrifyingly, already staring straight into me with big glossy gray eyes that screamed "death, death, death unto you!!'its eyes almost resembled my fathers. It was as if it could touch my heart. I could feel it's grip tighten, squeezing out the life in it. My heart froze with a ghastly halt. I fall onto the floor like a wooden bord flat and frozen with pending death. My heart stoped it's lively rythm. I lay there and with the single second of life I had, I think to myself "my time has too come".
