The Case For A Greater Self-Love
I love myself enough to seek comfort,
Not enough to embrace discomfort.
A long lie-in because I deserve it,
yet never committing to get fit.
I care so much about me, I avoid criticism;
That fondness doesn’t stretch to cynicism,
Which I welcome with open arms and ears,
With devotion, doubling down on my fears.
It takes great effort to accept who you are;
A greater undertaking, though, you’ll find,
Is to be better than you’ve been this far,
To love yourself against all odds and grind.
