I don’t know what came first, chicken or egg

But once I feel like I owe this, it never tastes the same

It just feels like a taking

Even if there is so much to gain

Because the moment payment is late

(Rather it be weeks or days)

You see it in their face even as they say

“ it’s okay”

And suddenly I am angry

Don't you know I am doing my best?

I always have at least a portion

I’ll figure out a way to pay the rest.

But now I owe a late fee. The taxes are due.
