Whispers on the Wind

Come wayside by the boat

I hear whispers on the wind

Of a siren softly singing

“Adventures with a friend”

Can you hear her voice?

It sounds sweet like milk and honey

She’s calling me to join her friends

To swim to the bottom deep

The men nod their heads in unison

Their eyes locked on her voice

Do sirens really sing like this?

“Come, hop on in,” she beckoned me

Yet I swore I saw a fin.

“Let this be a lesson

To any man she tries to take”

The captain came starboard

And brought the song to an end

She blew the cannon to make them scatter

Swimming once again
