Fish Meets Bird
A fish and a bird could fall in love but where will they build their nest
The old adage soaks into the mattress
dripping sweat in torturous damp sheets
Blinking into the night
As your hot as an oven heat turns with
A sleepy sigh under our favorite quilt
We are cut from very different cloths
Yet
You are my person
I get you
Not alike like nesting spoons
More akin to bread with butter better together
My breathing matches yours
Your arm stretches to touch my shoulder
Drifting me back to slumber
Floating on the shared currents of our dreams
My ragged snore escapes
And another
And another
Each louder that the one before
Your eye opens
Waking up that old saying
about a fish and a bird
