Hidden

The lights were off in every room and I crawled out of the window of my bedroom.

I looked down as I cautiously climbed down the wall. My sharp eyes glanced around, and I glimpsed a humanoid figure crouched under the cover of a tree while a menacing creature prowled around it.

I still had a chance. I lightly jumped from ledge to ledge and landed gracefully on the ground. I made sure my hood covered my face and that my cloak the hood was connected to flowed in the wind.

My eyes started to go unfocused as I neared the creature. It growled as I approached it. “Shhhh.” I whispered to it as I pressed my hand to its forehead. I sent calm images through this current of power and connection I had created.

The child under the tree stared in awe. “Don’t tell anyone.” I whispered. I jumped on the back of the dragon-like creature and silently wiped the child’s memory. “Go home.” I said to them.

And off I flew. On the back of a dragon-like creature. And nobody would know, because I erased my family’s memory of me. So, this dragon that I named Helios is my only friend.
