âBella, come on!â My mother shouted. âComing.â I said, bored of going to school. When I got downstairs, I put on my shoes and got on the bus.
~Later
âHey, Bel! Howâs it goinâ?â Jasper said, walking next to me in the hall. I turned towards him, startled. âOh, good. I have to get to class now.â I said as I hurried in ahead of him.
âBel, is something wrong?â He asked me after school because we walk together home. Even though I take the bus to school, I walk home with Jasper. âNo, Iâm fine.â I said a little too quick. Of course he noticed it. âWhat is it.â He said in a tone that I couldnât escape.
âI⌠My mom is just nagging me about my grades.â
âWhat are your grades? How bad could they be?â
âBâs and Câs. She wants Aâs. A+âs best, A-âs worst.â
âOh, Bel. Itâs alright.â
âBut she doesnât see it that way.â
~Later
âBELLADONNA MARIE LEA SMITH! GET DOWN HERE.â Her mom shouted. Oh no, I thought. I reluctantly walked down the stairs to meet my motherâs furious face. âYou have a D+. I WANT AâS. Not Dâs.â
âMom, I can explain-â
âOkay then, explain.â
So I explained what happened about my grades. Her gaze softened a little. âAlrighty, then. But you should still work on getting that D into a C or B or even better, and A.
~Later
âBel, you seem⌠Happier.â
âYeah, I told my mom what happened and itâs all good.â
âGood!â He said before he hugged me.
Then he tutored me.
Then I got all Aâs.
Then me and my mom were closer.
Then me and Jasper were closer than ever.
Then we were torn apart.
Then I went to college.
Then we met again.
Then I got a house.
Then I got him back.
Then life went on.
Life goes on.
And onâŚ
And onâŚ
And on.
The lights were off in every room and I crawled out of the window of my bedroom.
I looked down as I cautiously climbed down the wall. My sharp eyes glanced around, and I glimpsed a humanoid figure crouched under the cover of a tree while a menacing creature prowled around it.
I still had a chance. I lightly jumped from ledge to ledge and landed gracefully on the ground. I made sure my hood covered my face and that my cloak the hood was connected to flowed in the wind.
My eyes started to go unfocused as I neared the creature. It growled as I approached it. âShhhh.â I whispered to it as I pressed my hand to its forehead. I sent calm images through this current of power and connection I had created.
The child under the tree stared in awe. âDonât tell anyone.â I whispered. I jumped on the back of the dragon-like creature and silently wiped the childâs memory. âGo home.â I said to them.
And off I flew. On the back of a dragon-like creature. And nobody would know, because I erased my familyâs memory of me. So, this dragon that I named Helios is my only friend.
The sun shined brightly and the birds sang cheerily as a got out of bed. âUghâŚâ I said as I remembered that it was Thursday. Why do I have to go to school? I thought, slowly walking to the kitchen. I made myself a sandwich for lunch and ate a slice of toasted bread with butter for breakfast.
âHazel? Hazel! Where are you?â I asked in annoyance. âIâm right here.â She replied, sitting next to me. âAH! Do NOT do that again.â Hazel is my little sister, but we are twins. She says that I can be the older one. âHazel, letâs go to school.â I said softly. âOkay, Fern.â She replied, mocking my tone.
We got on the bus, and I fell asleep while we rode. It was a one hour ride to school on the bus so I always fell asleep on Hazelâs shoulder.
I woke up to the bus crashing. âHazel?â I asked, momentarily blinded by a flash of light. When I could see again, she wasnât there. âHAZEL?â But she disappeared, and I was forced to leave the bus. My leg got injured in the impact of the crash, so I made some kind of makeshift crutches out of some tree branches and some cloth.
I saw a cat laying on the side of the road. It looked like my cat named Amethyst. She was a grey tabby with darker grey stripes, a white belly, and amethyst eyes. And this cat on the side of the road looked exactly like her. âAmethyst?â I whispered softly. âIs that you?â After a moment, she stirred and meowed weakly.
I scooped her up in my arms and kissed the top of her head. She mewed affectionately as I limped into the forest. There were plenty of branches there, so I didnât have much of a problem making a kind of shelter. âI wonder if there were any other survivors.â I said to nobody in particular. Amethyst jumped out of my arms and scouted the area. Something about her seemed different, though. She had some kind of aura. Some kind of purplish aura around her and her amethyst eyes seemed like they were glowing.
She walked around and crouched by a leaf, that she gobbled up. âAmethyst! That was a leaf!â Then I was overwhelmed with a smell of rotisserie chicken meat freshly cooked and I looked around where it was coming from. I looked at Amethyst and saw that she was using some type of magic or some powers to turn a leaf into what tasted like chicken. I got my backpack and put it on. âCâmon, Amethyst! Letâs go see whatâs going on in town.
When we got to the town, it looked as if something crashed into it and decimated everything in town. The store was intact, and I grabbed a shopping cart to get supplies. Everyone seemed to have disappeared when the crash happened. I technically wasnât stealing if nobody was there to arrest her, and she couldnât pay if there wasnât anyone at the cashier, so she walked out with a full shopping cart. The self-checkout machines were broken, and nobody would get the money, and the ere was no way sh would leave her money just sitting there, waiting for someone to take it.
