STORY STARTER

Submitted by Aeris

You're at work, when the imminent end of the world is announced.

What happens next?

They Are Know(n)

They’re all panicking,

Scrambling to their cars and make their calls,

Screeching machines crash and swerve.

Fear is in the air.

The TV’s simultaneously flip to the same channel.

Death is promised but funnily enough, the same words for every news host states,

“Do not panic. Scientists are working hard. Be with your loved ones in this hard time.”

As if we will live, as if there is an aftermath,

As if we could possibly be survivors.

Death is in the air,

Inevitable and unstoppable,

I know despite my cynical promise of calmness,

Tears will fall as I look up at the sky, my eyes shyt and open, my arms clutching all that I know.
