The Worthless Window
And we stood there panting, shed-bound. Horrified
That wail gouged our ears. My blood froze
The foul stench clawed its way under
Our flimsy fortress’ corrugated shell. Putrefied
Petrified, I watched my partner pry open
The paint-encrusted window and slither
Away
It wailed
He screamed
He bubbled
He gurgled
He broke
With all my weight and little strength
I failed to move
The re-enamel-jammed portal
The horror wailed from every direction
And I convulsed
As its vile essence proceeded it
In an agonizing instant
I adhered to the far-too-close-corner
Of my roomy coffin
As its tendrils seeped in through
The paint-clotted orifice
So, too, its hideous orifice
Crossed the threshold
Madness raced forth to embrace its partner
Who held me
Still, for the kill
My skin split
Agony snaked its way through my veins
And crystallized my corpuscles
My muscles shattered, and my exposed
Flesh seared
I screamed
I bubbled
I gurgled
I broke
