Cry
A far away cry like sound, echoed across the frozen ice
She was inside stoking, the wood stove fire very nice
The painful noise continued, throughout the late night
Who or what is out there, in pain or misery or even a fight
She is all alone at home the next day, bundled up she leaves
Wearing her safety ice boots, and her warm arctic jacket sleeves
Bringing with her a piece of cheese, and meat in her pocket to eat
Hoping to find that wounded, or scared animal to help and meet
Frozen hail and blowing snow, stung her face as she walked on the ice
Wishing to bring some comfort to what ever, is not feeling so good or nice
Far ahead she spots a bundle, down on the frozen ice cold unfriendly ground
Carefully walking up to it and gently bends down, unbelieving what she found
Freezing and shaking and crying out in despair, with its hunger and water pain
She carefully picked up the frozen mamma dog, trying to save her life in vain
Feeding her small bits of the meat and cheese, she licked her gloved hand
Doggy eyes following her every move back to the house, to our warm land
