POEM STARTER

Gratitude

Write a poem in any style, about what you're grateful for today.

Thank God

Never thought I’d be able to say:

Thank God

for letting me live.

For so long,

I was drowning in my own mind,

a silent war,

a battle no one else could see.

I thought the world was cruel,

sharp-edged, merciless,

a storm that would never settle.

And maybe she is—

but only if you let her be,

if you let her break you,

if you let her whisper lies

that you are not enough.

I was fading,

a ghost in my own body,

trapped in nights that stretched too long,

in days that felt too heavy.

But then—

light.

A shift, a breath, a choice.

I changed the people around me,

the echoes in my head,

the places I called home.

And suddenly,

the world burst into color.

Sunlight kissed my skin like an old friend,

the wind wove through my hair,

and my own laughter startled me.

My smile found its way back,

my eyes glowed at the sight of the sky,

and for the first time in forever,

I wasn’t searching for a reason to stay.

Because I was the reason.

Because I am enough.

Thank God

for letting me see it.
