Pandemic brought us together We yearned for companionship We walked we talked And then it happened One spoke of dissent Then one became two Loud and proud of their opinions Then it happened A slow realization The values they expounded We’re divisive and conspiratorial And then it happened A slow burn inside of me Why did I continue to show up What were these women contributing to me And then it happened As the severity of the virus passed There arose opportunities I felt drawn to People who were soulful and happy And then it happened I decided to choose authenticity I deserve better People pleasing is really not my vibe And then it happened I pulled away and decided to be me Curious of what I might be missing Out of the rabbit hole And then it happened My life changed I closed the door And opened up to creativity Opened up to new friendships And then it happened I am happy and free
