The Stranger
“Why are you so against her coming with us.” Jess asks and Bree can tell that she can’t just ignore her and brush it off again. Jess wants answers.
The girl had told them that she was a lone survivor. That she’d been on her own since the start of when things went bad.
“It’s bad enough that I have to look after the pair of you.. never mind some girl that we know nothing about. She could be absolutely anyone.” she stops dead in her tracks, “she could be with whoever is after us.”
Jess knows Bree is right.
“She’s lied to me twice. I guarantee you she’s not who she says she is. Everything she’s told us about her past, doesn’t make any sense. Half the time its like she’s not even from this world.”
“You’ve got to learn to trust people.” Jess replies and that’s the conversation over, she begins to walk off ahead and Bree knows shes upset her but all she said was the truth.
Will was listening joins at Bree’s side, “There’s three of us and one of her. If this goes sideways we can handle it.”
“No. I will handle it. You two can barely defend yourselves.” Bree said unable to stop herself.
Will shook his head and did a heavy sigh before joining Jess in-front.
‘Great’ Bree thought to herself, she was amazing at upsetting the people around her. These people needed. She glanced over at their new arrival, who looked like she had listened to every word they’d been saying, taking everything in. Which made Bree even more skeptical and wary of her.
How were they to trust a girl who didn’t even remember her real name, that or she was neglecting to tell them what it was.
Putting trust in people, was like handing them an opportunity to kill you.
Which she was never going to do.
