If I wasn’t looked upon by all the eyes of the world then I wouldn’t be labelled as trouble. Just because I was born into being a prince. The people of this kingdom look at me like I’m going to be it’s downfall and I haven’t even turned eighteen yet. Just because I don’t choose to conform to what is considered normal behaviour for a young prince. So what if I cause a little bit of chaos every now and then. Isn’t everyone allowed to make theirselves a past that isn’t full of regrets? I don’t want to miss out on pleasures of life, so that my subjects may not see me as a tyrant. Maybe they deserved to be fearful of me. Wouldn’t that make me a good ruler?
The young prince was the beauty of his family. Sure, his older brother would take the throne, but he would be the most stunning one in the family paintings. While his siblings sported some bright blonde hair, Louis had black locks instead. His hair was perfect no matter if he had just awoken or been swimming. It was always perfect. It made some people question his lineage. It wasn’t unusual for these rumours to be spread. However, his beautiful blue eyes did match the rest of his family. He was the tallest of his siblings and had taken to the sword alot quicker than his brother Charles. Which made his ego a little unbearable at times. Some feared he might become a tyrant. Time will only tell.
Prince Louis was a true enigma of his family. He had very little interest in his succession of the throne. He only cared about his dragon. Thoughout the kingdom he wasn’t greatly loved by his people.
The young prince was seen as egotistical and unpredictable. Nobody liked the idea of change and if their was any monarch to bring about change it would be him.
Luckily his older brother Charles was the true heir to the throne. Charles was seen as weak in comparrison to Louis. He wasn’t as skillful with a blade but definitely more reasonable and diplomatic.
Charles was unable to tame a dragon which was the main reason people considered him a weak choice for a throne. Obviously it couldn’t fall to the youngest of the three siblings the princess Alyssa. Women were never given such privledges, unless they were the only children to the king and queen.
Princess Alyssa was a sweet girl which was unsual for her time, but she is written about in history as being the realms delight.
“While chasing your ghost, I became one myself.”
“Will you stop reading from that book for all of our sanities.” I couldn’t help but snap, you would too if you’d listened to your little sister rattle on about your ancestors for hours. “Half of that is probably made up.”
“The king tried to claim the dragon ghost but was engulfed in flames.” She said, looking over the book with facination.
“He was a fool then.”
“You can’t speak about our great grandfather like that.”
I laughed at her, it escaped before I could stop myself. “He would probably agree with me if he wasn’t dust.”
She gave me a filthy look as she slammed her book shut. She was never one for enjoying dark jokes. Always a little bit too serious. Never letting herself switch off.
Whereas I was quite the opposite. I had given up in truth. I wasn’t in line to the throne. My older brother Henry was the next prince to take the throne. I felt as though I had no purpose in life.
“Just because you are miserable you don’t need to make everyone around you the same.” My younger sister said before storming out of our library.
I thought my jokes were rather entertaining as opposed to depressing. Although maybe the fact that many people couldn’t stand to be around me very long, may have been evidence of my humour not being a massive hit.
I glanced over at the painting on the wall of the great dragon ghost. Maybe I should try and tame him. Being engulfed in flames sounded like a mercy.
For someone that was always so sure of herself, never letting her guard down. Right now she was at a loss for words. Betrayal feels like dying. She’d vowed to never let anyone have that sort of power over her again. She’d let Harley in and she trusted her and she’d wasted it so carelessly.
“I don’t- understand.” Was all she could say. She had no words, for once she was speechless. No witty comeback, nothing.
This woman had broken her.
All the while Harley was staring back at her. Then her eyes changed and she was gone. A new person replaced her. Someone that was unhinged and evil.
Then to finish her off for good, she plunged the knife into her stomach. Somehow that didn’t hurt as much as the lie.
Bree dropped to the floor but she was unbothered by her wound instead she was staring at Harley pleading with her, to say that this wasn’t real. That it wasn’t happening.
“Please… Harley.. it’s me.” She said between gasps. She saw a flicker in her eyes then, only for a second but it was there. Maybe she could be saved.
Laughter from across the room erupted. Aiden walked a little closer. “I wouldn’t bother, she was never real anyway.”
“She is.” Bree said before laying down on the ground, the pain was too much now to sit up. “My friends will come back for her and save her.”
“Your friends haven’t even come back for you. Never mind a stranger.”
“You don’t know them. Also you’ve never really had friends so how would you know.”
She gave Harley one final look and a reassuring smile before passing out. Just so that she’d know she was forgiven. It wasn’t her fault it was all HIM.
“Why are you so against her coming with us.” Jess asks and Bree can tell that she can’t just ignore her and brush it off again. Jess wants answers.
The girl had told them that she was a lone survivor. That she’d been on her own since the start of when things went bad.
“It’s bad enough that I have to look after the pair of you.. never mind some girl that we know nothing about. She could be absolutely anyone.” she stops dead in her tracks, “she could be with whoever is after us.”
Jess knows Bree is right.
“She’s lied to me twice. I guarantee you she’s not who she says she is. Everything she’s told us about her past, doesn’t make any sense. Half the time its like she’s not even from this world.”
“You’ve got to learn to trust people.” Jess replies and that’s the conversation over, she begins to walk off ahead and Bree knows shes upset her but all she said was the truth.
Will was listening joins at Bree’s side, “There’s three of us and one of her. If this goes sideways we can handle it.”
“No. I will handle it. You two can barely defend yourselves.” Bree said unable to stop herself.
Will shook his head and did a heavy sigh before joining Jess in-front.
‘Great’ Bree thought to herself, she was amazing at upsetting the people around her. These people needed. She glanced over at their new arrival, who looked like she had listened to every word they’d been saying, taking everything in. Which made Bree even more skeptical and wary of her.
How were they to trust a girl who didn’t even remember her real name, that or she was neglecting to tell them what it was.
Putting trust in people, was like handing them an opportunity to kill you.
Which she was never going to do.
“You can’t be serious.” Jess says angrily throwing her hands up in the air dramatically.
“Go and wait by the car.” Bree says sternly, and Jess does as she’s told. Bree only has to give Will one look and he knows to go and wait with Jess till Bree gets back.
Bree grabs Zoe by the arm and starts dragging her towards the facility in front of them. It’s extravagant and thats incredibly rare nowadays. These people were not to be messed with, but Bree knew that already. That’s why she needed to hand Zoe over to them.
It was the only way she would save her friends. They were outnumbered and outgunned.
They made their way through door after door and Bree took her time to map the whole place in her mind. Noting the cameras and the guards and where they were situated.
They made it into the main room of the building which was a giant lab. There was a man stood in the middle with a lab coat, Bree could only assume he was the one running things here. However not even he was the one in charge of everything.
“You complied.” The man said without looking up from whatever specimen was in front of him on the table.
“It’s the only way me and my friends wont be killed so... She’s not worth it.” Bree found it hard to say that last bit but she was unsure as to why. She barely even knew Zoe and didn’t really like her.
He said nothing else and still didn’t even look in her direction.
“I’ll just let myself out then shall I.” Bree said sarcastically. She kicked herself for it but she had to glance at Zoe before she left and she looked like she’d just been stabbed in the heart.
‘I’ve done that’ Bree thought to herself.
Bree reaches the car outside and Jess slaps her across the face, she has tears in her eyes now. “What is wrong with you?”
Bree stands still before opening the front passenger door and retrieving the gun from the glove box. She loads it and places it in the waist band of her jeans. “You don’t give me enough credit.”
The realisation of what’s about to happen hits Chrissy and she looks startled like a child that’s been caught stealing. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh.” Bree rolls her eyes before returning to the guard outside the establishment, she starts fumbling, feeling her pockets “pal have I dropped some keys out here?” she asks and as the guard bends down she strikes him in the face with her foot, sending him flying backwards. he lies on the floor holding his nose which has started dripping with blood. she grabs the collar of his shirt and lands a punch to his face that knocks him unconscious.
She grabs the keycard in his shirt pocket and puts it straight in her jacket, “coming?” she asks the two of them.
“Think I’ll wait in the car.” Will says feeling sick from the violence.
“hold up.” Jess says as she joins Bree.
