WRITING OBSTACLE

Your protagonist finds an object early in the story that becomes important later on.

Incorporate this foreshadowing subtly in the beginning, so its significance becomes a revelation.

Specs Of Love

That smart liar. I was going to rip him limb by limb when I found him. First, take out his teeth, then his eyes, then… I have to stay focused. As I walk through the abandoned building I see a pedestal holding a rubber ball, a crown, and beside it a small spec of glitter. I mumble at the thought of any of them being important. So I leave. In the corner of my eye I see a desk, a small teddy bear on it. I felt bad for it, ripped and used, dirty and torn. Feels like me actually. Then I hear a voice. “We’re the same, ripped of life from that… ignorant boy, we deserve justice!” I keep walking. I couldn’t think about Dylan right now. The voice keeps whispering in my mind. Until I go crazy. I turn around. The teddy bear was following me. A green aura surrounded it. It was holding the spec of glitter. “Sort him out for me,” it gave me the glitter. “W-” “Blow on it,” the bear interrupted. I did what she said. Suddenly I was in front of him. And I tore him limb by limb. My eyes fluttered open. Dylan stood over me. “Good morning sweetheart,” his voice made my heart dance. Weirdly there was a spec of glitter in her hand. Why was a torn teddy bear staring at her? And why was Dylan sort of scary? Is this a dream?
