Revenged Blood
Sometimes you need to bleed in order to heal.
Vengeance is all I desire.
If I need to collect scars, so be it.
Pain is bearable when you have a cause to endure it.
I grab my sword and tighten my armor. I will not lose this fight.
I twist my hair into braids and calm my beating heart.
This war will end tonight.
Once the sun sets to its golden glow, I walk out to the vast, dead battlefield.
All life has seemed to perish on the ground where so much blood has been spilled…and more is to come.
The enemy walks out, their black armor gleaming golden in the sun’s dying light.
I make a face of disgust and pray again that my vengeance will finally be served.
A battle horn sounds and I run.
Warriors cry in battle, fighting to rid the kingdom of such evil.
I spot him, the man who took everything from me.
My lovers blood is splatter on the man’s soul.
I will fight till my last bleeding breath if it means I can avenge my lover.
My enemy locks eyes with me and runs towards me with a smirk of hate.
We lock swords. I swing and block his harsh blows, my heart beats fast.
I am not scared.
Metal cuts through my armor, blood pours from my delicate skin.
I do not care.
I urge all my strength to surface and hit after hit, my sword wounds my enemy.
He isn’t fast enough. He isn’t enraged. He isn’t winning.
I knock him to the ground and look into his eyes for the last blow.
My blood drips from my cheek, chest, and arms, but I do not care.
This will heal me.
Tears fall at the sight of my lover’s killer.
“Revenge is all I need,” I whisper as I plunge my blade in my enemy’s blackened heart.
Back at camp, I move sullenly. I’ve lost a lot of blood, but I needed to bleed in order to heal my broken heart.
I did it.
I avenged my love.
And now I get to finally rest.
I lie down in a distant field. The stars shine above, twinkling in pure silver beauty.
I can feel my lover’s arms around me.
“You did it,” he says.
I close my eyes and fall into a deep sleep.
I breathe my final breath.
