Gone Without A Goodbye

I’m leaving forever,

I will never set foot here again,

Not now, not ever,

I will no longer have to pretend,

That I loved standing in this endeavour,

Underneath the unforgiving rain.

Whilst everyone else played,

And enjoyed Their reign.

In this once beautiful town displayed.

Unseen horrors and controlling spells.

Well at least to myself.

To everyone else,

This town granted wishes.

no one could see past the beauty of it all,

the blemishes, the glitches and the stitches

No one wanted to go past the wall.

No one except you

It was, in all honesty, too good to be true.

But it would never be able to grant mine.

For beyond the limits of our minds.

I wanted to be free

And free I shall be,

But only when I cross the border,

At the moon’s last quarter

Which is tonight,

So I must finish this without fright.

Or I will lose sight.

Of the task ahead.

More importantly of what he said.

No one will miss me,

At least, everyone except him.

He was the reason of my existence.

He was that best friend.

Who could always finish my sentence.

He was the one who met an unfortunate end.

He tried to make me happier.

He didn’t succeed.

He was my lover.

He was my only need.

The full moon rises,

As I approach the fence,

The small hole, will only fit the smallest of sizes,

Luckily, I have common sense.

I grab the rope I threw over the top,

I climb till the clouds are near,

And that is when I stop.

When I assure myself he won’t be able to hear,

I whisper softly through the night,

“Goodbye, my love. I really do hope you were right.”
