POEM STARTER

Submitted by Cheyenne King

Describe a moment in life which seems to last forever.

You could write this as a poem or story, or as a descriptive paragraph.

You Are Not Gone

In the stillness where shadows linger long,

A whisper echoes, soft yet strong,

The space beside me now feels hollow,

In the absence, memories cruelly follow.

Each moment stretches, time unwinds,

A tapestry woven with love defines,

Yet threads now fray in weary hands,

As grief carves gently, like shifting sands.

You left a warmth that lingers here,

A haunting presence, forever near,

The laughter shared, the silences deep,

In the corners of my heart you sleep.

Days fold into nights without your light,

Stars blink out one by one in plight,

Each tear I shed becomes a river,

Flowing endlessly, I shiver.

I wander through dreams where you reside,

In the liminal spaces, the gentle tide,

But dawn breaks harsh, the veil is torn,

And I rise to find another day mourned.

Time, deceitful, drags its feet,

Memories replay in a rhythmic beat,

A song that echoes through empty halls,

Where shadows dance and silence calls.

Yet in this ache, your essence remains,

Clinging softly to joy mixed with pains,

A bittersweet echo, a tender refrain,

In the depths of loss, love's eternal gain.

So here I stand, in this eternal now,

With every heartbeat, I take a vow,

To cherish the moments, the laughter we've spun,

For in this forever, you are not gone.
