What Is Inside?
On a hot day in Egypt two young adults explored the area near the pyramids. A rain storm began. Then lightning flashed.
“Let’s go in the pyramid,” said June. She loved adventure.
“Not a good idea,” said Ron. He liked to keep to himself.
“We need to get away from the lightning,” said June.
“I’d rather head toward the entrance where you buy tickets and hover there until the storm is over,” said Ron.
“I’m going to sneak inside,” said June.
“Suit yourself,” said Ron. “I’m heading to the entrance.”
June snuck inside the pyramid by walking into an entrance that wasn’t staffed. She found the king’s chamber. She heard groaning. Rowr Rowr. She slid down an air shaft to the queen’s chamber.
She heard more groaning. She couldn’t cry for help, because she wasn’t supposed to be in the pyramid and tours weren’t happening at that time. More groaning. Rrrrrr. Rrrr. Then she heard footsteps. The footsteps sounded like the person had on metal shoes. Stomp stomp. She found an escape shaft and walked on ground level of the pyramid.
Next she heard MEOWW. PFFT!! PFFT!! A cat? I guess Egyptians buried their cats maybe in tombs too. The meows came from outside the pyramid.
She escaped to the outside and ran to find Ron. June couldn’t find Ron or anyone else for that matter. The dark sky covered the area as it continued to storm. Mummified cats roamed the area.
June ran what seemed like forever and found the parking lot where she and Ron parked their car. She couldn’t find the car. She called Ron,”. Brrring.
Ron answered,” Hello, this is Ron.”
“Ron, where are you? I’m in the parking lot. Could you please come get me?” said June
shivering.
“On my way, I didn’t know what to do and I couldn’t find you since you snuck in the pyramid. Are you okay?” said Ron.
“I’m freaked out! I’ll tell you the story when you get here. Hurry there’s eerie things happening,”said June.
Ron jumped in the car and exceeded the speed limit to get there. June sat outside the entrance to the pyramid hunkered against the edge. Ron drove in and June ran to the car. She dripped of rain drops and Ron had towels on the car seats for her.
“I’m freezing. Thank you for hurrying here!” said June.
“So what scared you?” said Ron as he drove out of the parking lot.
“ I entered an unstaffed entrance and found the kings chamber then I heard groaning so I walked to find the queen’s chamber. More groaning…,” said June.
“Who was groaning?” said Ron.
“I don’t want to know… do you?” said June. Then I heard loud footsteps. I escaped down a shaft to ground level then heard cats meowing. Mummified cats were walking around the area, so I ran toward the parking lot and the car was gone and you know the rest of the story.”
“Where are the mummified cats now? I didn’t see them when I pulled in,” said Ron.
“They are closer to the pyramids. Please don’t let me go on an adventure by myself again,” said June.
“Well, I can’t force you. I’m glad you are safe now though,” said Ron.
“Me too,” said June.
