Everything To Be As Before
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.
As a kid, sitting by the window, she looked up at the stars and made a wish every day.
I want good grades.
I want my mom to get me candy.
I want Annie to stop being annoying.
I want to run away from home.
I want dad to come back.
I want everything to be as it was before.
And soon, after her teenage years, she forgot about her home, her family, and headed to college.
Until one day, one day and the ones after that, small changes happened to her life.
Some went unnoticed-- her school transcripts were changed.
But the day her mom called her, she burst out crying. Quiet, sniffling tears and widened eyes.
Come home, I'll give you all the candy you want.
Her mom, who she hadn't talked to in years. Confusion clouded her mind.
Her tears weren't of sadness, but rage.
Once again, most wishes were unnoticeable. She was away from home already, she didn't need to run away.
Annie became less annoying, but she wasn't in contact with Annie anymore.
Someone knocked on the door.
She opened it without a thought.
Hello?
A familiar face, but one that didn't show a trace of recognition.
No...
No...
She slammed the door in his face and stumbled into the floor.
Dad?
He didn't respond. Only a blank face showed.
He was supposed to be dead.
She composed herself before confronting the man.
Why are you here?
Wait... that sounded demanding.
Do you need something?
The man raised his hands in a protective stance.
Sorry, wrong house.
He turned around and left, leaving her with a sinking feeling in her stomach.
She didn't remember her wishes from the past nor did she know what was happening. She wanted to live her life in peace with neither of her parents.
The ground spun underneath her and her worldview changed. Instead of her own house, she was... Where?
Honey, come for breakfast.
Chills ran down her spine. She looked down, and there she was, in the form of a little girl and her mom's voice calling for her.
No...
She fell to her knees.
She was reliving her worst moments in life.
