Celebrated

It wasn’t what I expected;it wasn’t how I wanted it to be.Tears streamed down each persons hopeless expression, caught by tissues and handkerchiefs.Everyone was almost lifeless, and shadowed by their dark clothing.I hoped for a party, this was not it.Where was the music?Where were the multicoloured streamers?

Joy should have been engraved on every face in that church.I had been successful, why did they act like I had been a failure.

The food wasn’t the gourmet buffet I had requested, instead it was disgusting finger food covered in children’s slobber and soaked in the substance that secreted from their sticky fingers.

My life should have been celebrated not mourned.

At least I was still the centre of attention,as always.
