POEM STARTER
"Everything is just as it is meant to be."
Use this as the closing line of a poem in any style.
Crucifixion
Talk to me while I suffocate
Look me in the eyes while I die
I am above you but only physically
Realistically I’m far below
6 feet to be exact
Watch me as the pain carves out my very being
Until I am no longer the person you remember
Go down this path of blood
Look at all the people nailed to slabs of wood
Cruel and unusual torture
For someone supposedly innocent
Watch me as the weight of the world-
and by that i mean my own body.
slowly
slowly
slowly
makes me crumple
You can watch as I’ll laugh with you one last time
You can watch as the tears rolling down my cheeks hit the ground
You can watch as my lungs fail me and I can no longer breathe much less scream
and you can watch as my eyes go dim.
You can watch me when they take my body down
You can watch me as it leaks all the things keeping me alive
You can wonder whether it’s a crueler fate to to be the one dead, or to be the one left alive
And through all of this
you can take
comfort
and solice
in the fact that supposedly
Everything is just the way that it’s meant to be
