In Fleeing From God
See, a snail’s pace, a crawl
about the blurry trees
and whence the footsteps fall
we hasten through the days,
spiraling, leaping, bounding
o’er the dead and damned,
eyes flitting to and fro
scouring this hell
for anywhere to hide
— yet find only ourselves
