Facing The Consequences
“Excuse me, sir, I’ve got a question for you!” Jordan looked behind him to see a man in a suit, grinning with a raised eyebrow.
“Uhh…it depends on how personal it is?” Jordan said with a confused expression.
“I’ll give you five hundred dollars if you answer these two questions in thirty seconds.”
“What are your questions?” Jordan asked, now a little annoyed….
“Hold on.” The man said, holding up his right hand. “If you don’t answer these questions in thirty seconds _or_ if you lie about it, there will be consequences.”
“What kind of consequences?”
“You’ll have to wait and see.” The man said and Jordan stared at him.
“I can’t agree to do that if I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“Come on! It’ll be fun!”
“Answering questions is fun?”
“Yeah! Come on! Just two questions!”
Mhm…and thirty seconds?”
“Half a minute of your time.”
“Fine. But only thirty seconds and two questions.”
“Okay!” The man began. “First question is: Have you cheated before? Not on a game! On your significant other.” Jordan gulped and shook his head.
“Never. I have a girlfriend and I love her.”
“Okay…next one! What do you _consider…_as cheating?” Jordan grumbled under his breath and sighed.
“I don’t know…umm, lying and not wanting to be around the person you ‘love’ and find someone else while still _being_ with that person…. W-why?” The man chuckled as he put his hands behind his back.
“You lied about the first question…now you must face the consequences….” He said and Jordan laughed nervously.
“Okay! What is the consequence?” He asked, jokingly. The man turned around and waved at some trees which made Jordan eye the man with curiosity.
“You can come out now boys!” The man finally said and four masked men came out.
“What in the world…?” Jordan murmured.
“You see…Jordan. These men know what you did to a friend of theirs. You cheated on her and she asked us to help her. These are the consequences.” The man was about to walk away when he stopped and locked eyes with Jordan who was speechless. He then looked at the men and clicked his tongue a few times. “Your time is up. You better run.” He said and the men went after Jordan as he screamed his head off, trying to get away. The men eventually caught up to him and beat him up.
The man went to Jordan’s soon-to-be ex girlfriend and told her the news.
“Your brothers beat him senseless.” The man replied.
“But they didn’t…like, cause him to get into a coma, did they?” She asked.
“No, of course not. If Jordan went farther than just breaking your heart, he for sure would probably not be able to walk for _days_.” The girl nodded and grabbed her purse where she grabbed five hundred dollars.
“Here you go.” She said and the man smiled.
“Pleasure doing business with you. Hope you never have to do this again.” He said and he went off.
