We seem to think the world is focused around us and them, like the universe is divided in to a stream of two collectives battling each other to find out who's right. Surely someone has to be right? Surely someone has to win?

Barney created this image in his head, the world was always against him. Like everything he did was always right and he was never wrong. It was always them who was wrong, not Barney. He pondered about the choices in his life, the people who had done him wrong, the relationships that failed miserably because he allowed certain things to slide without standing up for himself and then ended up hating his partners for taking advantage of him. It was always them and not him.

He noticed he didn't stand up for himself and then he had resentment because people would stand over him.
