The Accident

Ambulance lights cut through the darkness, police sirens scream over radio static. All she could do is watch in horror as the jaws of life ripped apart her fathers brand new 1985 Mustang, tears running down her face, she swallowed hard. Shaking Ashley slumped in the drivers seat, without a scratch on her, seeing her cousin and her best-friends lifeless body being released from the mangled mess of metal and steel, she threw up.

It was so late and they both had been “over served” as Britney called it. Ashley knew she shouldn’t have gotten behind the wheel, the rain was coming down too hard, the light turned straight from green to red, and she slammed on the brakes, she would have flew through the window if she hadn’t had that seat belt on, that’s the only thing that saved her. The car behind them, didn’t stand a chance.

She knew the only way to explain everything was the truth and she has been lying for so long, she wasn’t even sure if she remembered what that was any more. Her whole life was one big lie, she had everyone fooled, thinking things were so great for her, keeping her grades up just enough to not get attention from anyone, making it look like things were perfect…. When everything was one big disastrous lie.
