Reflection From The Mirror
Stumbling to the bathroom in the middle of the night I saw the moon was shining on the mirror and I gazed at the reflection of its beauty there. The rays danced lightly on the glass surface. I was brought fully awake when I saw my reflection all twisted and angry staring back at me.
This was surreal. I knew my face was enjoying the moonbeams and could not possibly be almost like a snarling dog staring back at me. I convinced myself this was all a very odd dream and soon I would wake to a dawn that was done with this “Alice in Wonderland” state I was experiencing.
Then the snarling face called out to me saying, “I will not be gone with the dawn my pretty”. I found this a tad humorous. My unconscious mind had now added “The Wizard of Oz” ,another of my favorite childhood books, to this bizarre monologue. I somehow stumbled back to bed and slept soundly the rest of the night.
When I entered the bathroom the next morning there were three books in my bathroom sink. I did not have time to figure how these books appeared in the sink in my bathroom. There was my copy of “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and lastly a copy of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” I chuckled and thought that in the craziness of the night before I should have experienced falling through the wardrobe into Narnia. I stopped laughing when I was staring into the face of the same image I had seen the night before in the mirror. I was her or she was me. We now had a body and in our outstretched hand was Turkish Toffee. In the distance I heard Aslan roar.
