POEM STARTER

Not Gold

‘All that glitters is not gold.’ I never really understood it, and if I were to be so bold, I don’t think I ever will. I’ve seen the stars glitter, just the same as cartoon gold. The sun and moon were kidders, ‘jokes on you, we’re not the prettiest.’ I’ve seen more glitter than just gold. Just like the stars, other things do too. But maybe I’ll sit here in the cold, and tell you that maybe tears do. All that glitters is not gold. It’s stars and the Sun, smiles and tears and snow. All that glitters is not gold, but that’s what I’ve always been told. And if I were to be so bold, the worst part about all that does glitter? All that glitters is not gold; I know tears hurt to hold. Just as my memory will, when I don’t get to grow old.
