The Scars On Our Hearts
It wasn’t meant to be this way
His black eyes on mine
His gentle smile fading
It wasn’t meant to be something I did
I fell for him
Like rain from the sky
I never knew that one person could change everything
I never knew that life could be so perfect
I never knew that a single person could be so beautiful
Like the crashing of waves on a warm sunny morning
Or the gentle fall breeze that kisses your cheek
The cold crystals that glide from the clouds, glinting in the moonlight
He makes all these things that I used to love look small
Compared to him, his midnight eyes, and peaceful smile
The ocean, wind, and snow don’t measure up
With one look in his dark eyes I hear the crashing of the waves
With one quick brush of his hand I feel the breeze and leaves swirling around me
With one tiny kiss I know I’d feel the snow drifting down
He’s scarred my life
In the best way possible
I couldn’t live without him
And it hurts
Because . . .
He now has the power
To scar my heart
