i’ve created

a monster

of sorts

with claws

and teeth

and scales

it prowls

behind

high walls

and caged

in its

own bones

its eyes

are dark

the glimmer bright

but it will

never see

the sky

because of

course it’s

trapped in bones

trapped in walls

and blood

and muscle

but i hear

it every day

whisper in my ear

‘let me

out’

it says

though i

never let

it become me

for it’d tear

my world

to shreds
