In a field, I found a book, leather bound, with neat, curved writing. The darkness of the night was only illuminated by the moon’s gleaming surface. I used my torch to read the words.

Dear Diary,

Today I am finally fulfilling my dream of being a haunted house investigator. I found it when I was on a walk on my own. Strangely, it wasn’t in a dark forest like in the movies. It was on a mist covered field, secluded and eerie. It was as if it were a shop window, only displaying toys of all different shapes and sizes. Now I’m intrigued.

Before I entered, I waited, just in case some evil ghost popped up telling me not to go in. Sadly, nothing happened, so I entered. The door creaked in protest as it opened into a large, dimly lit room, shelves and shelves full of dolls. Cobwebs spun into every crack and crevice and dust adorned every surface. My flashlight illuminated the area. Funnily enough, the building seemed to be before electricity was around, since the only light source could have been the candles randomly dotted around. I’m going to investigate further.

I let go of the book. It dropped to the floor. I turned.
