She’s not here.
I didn't want to see you,
Not like that, not so still,
Or feel your hands still growing cold,
No more to wipe the tears I spill,
I watched dad tell your babies,
I saw their hearts unfold.
The nightmare I had months before,
Is now my story told.
My plead was not to go home,
And witness what was left,
Your lipstick on the table,
The sofa where you slept.
I never even realised,
Each day you're hard at work,
Taking pills to mask the pain,
Fighting tears to hide the hurt.
I was so young and clueless,
And you hid it so damn well,
Away from little babies,
So none of us could tell.
Oh if only I could travel back,
And find a will, a way,
So you can't ever leave us,
So you will always stay.
