Hula Hoops
“Look daddy tiny hula hoops” exclaimed the child whose rosy cheeks seemed to shine despite the gloomy atmosphere.
The man smiled in-spite of himself. It had been seven years since those chains wreaked havoc upon his life. During the funeral, he felt it necessary to bury the thing that took his wife with her. Bury the past, out of sight, out of mind. Or so he thought.
He laid the single rose they bought down next to the rusting chains and couldn’t help but notice the stark difference. The rose stood out amongst all the dead things.
“Why are they locked together?” She asked.
“It’s so you can’t escape”.
