When a king or queen requests your talents, the consequences for failure to obey orders can be great. For some people, they have to disobey orders for the sake of the person who’s requested it. Mir was a potions master and he had magical ability but no magic talent. He was summoned to the palace and before the queen.

“So you’ve come to perform magic for us?”

“Oh no, I’m not doing any more magic. Last time I tried, I had to live upside down for a week. I may be able to help you with the use of potions instead”

“Go on.”

“If you have the materials here I can make potions for your purposes if you’d like? It’s just that if- I’m going to stay here I’d like to bring a close friend of mine to keep me company?”

The queen sighed. “Very well, I shall send for your companion as soon as possible”

“Uhm your majesty?”

“Yes?”

“She’ll get her own room and privacy? And you won’t judge her looks?”
