Bunny!

Once we went to the Pretzel hut at the petting zoo, while I held a bunny.

Mama didn’t know I had the bunny, she was small enough to fit in the pocket of my jacket.

She was just so cute, I couldn’t leave her in that pen all by herself!

There were no more bunnies for her to play with

She wouldn’t like that, and I knew it!

So as mama ordered my pretzel, I played with my new bunny.

I hoped they wouldn’t notice she was gone, she blended in well with the surroundings of her pen.

Would they notice I stole the bunny?

When they finally noticed, what would happen to me?

How much trouble would I get in?

Oh no, I wish I hadn’t stolen the little bunny!

I was terrified of what they’d do to me when they caught her in my jacket pocket.

I was even more scared what mama would do.

She didn’t like bunnies too much.

She only let us look at this little beauty for a second, then pulled me away.

But I sneaked off while she looked at the goats beside the bunny pen.

With no one watching, I picked the little thing up and ran!

And now I sit here with mama, waiting for my pretel.

I guess I should tell her what I did, but I don’t want her to be mad!

Would she have to call the police when I told her?

When mama handed me my pretzel I looked up at her, with my golden eyes and gave her a big smile.

She knew something was wrong right then.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?”

I cheekily pulled my jacket back, showing her the little bunny in my jacket pocket!

“Oh no! We have to put that back, sweetie!”

So mama ran off, I didn’t get my pretzel, and she pulled me back to the bunny pen.

I saw the man, the man that would take care of the bunny, approaching fast!

Mamahurridly grabbed the bunny and put it down in the pen.

I’d miss the little thing!

She looks so lonely there, all by herself.

But the man!

He came back and put two more bunnies in with her!

She would no longer be lonely!

That made me happy.

I looked up to mama.

“I’m sorry, mama.

She was just so pretty!

And I didn’t want her to be lonely!”

Mama looked down at me again, petting the little bunny now.

“It’s okay sweetie.”
