The Loop
The man woke up to knocking on his door.
Sweat beaded on his brow as he rose from his bed and hesitantly left his bedroom.
The flicking light in the hallway illuminated the decay of the walls and peeling paint of his desolate apartment.
Each footstep down the hall was pained and each breath was begrudging as he crept closer to the door where the constant knocking continued.
The man’s breath hitched with every creaking floorboard and he swore the knocking was slowly growing faster in pace as he approached.
Clammy palms gripped the icey cold handle and turned it as the knocking instantly fell silent, cringing as the spring in the mechanism creaked and hinges groaned as he slowly pulled open the door.
The hallway of the apartment complex was devoid of light and sound as the man peered out with his shaking form.
He suddenly felt deep claws grab and painfully dig deep into his skin as they dragged him into the darkness.
All he heard was a moment of his ear splitting scream as his body was dragged into the darkness.
The man woke up to knocking on his door.
