Just Friends.

‘How about a date?’

I die a little inside,

I’d hoped you didn’t have feelings,

That I can’t reciprocate.

I should have noticed before,

And put a stop to it then.

But I have been too scared,

that i might lose my best friend.

You sit there wide eyed,

I suppose expecting a ‘Yes’,

Your smile turns to a frown,

as I confess.

I don’t love you my dear,

My heart belongs to someone else.

She is my whole world,

And I want nothing else.

It’s in this moment I sympathise,

with your situation.

Because she doesn’t love me either.

It’s the most devastating sensation.

I detest how fate works like that,

Both of our loves unrequited.

You deserve someone who loves you.

I’m sorry my heart is not like-minded.
